Cody is silver screen star

IT WAS a red carpet dream for Springfield’s Cody Mitchell as his debut film hit Netflix.

‘Calibre’ had its world premier last week at the Edinburgh International Film Festival and was released globally as a Netflix original on June 29.

Ten-year-old Cody stars as Findlay in Matt Palmer’s thriller, which is rated 89 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes and ‘Calibre’ had great success at the film festival winning the prestigious Michael Powell award for best British feature film.

Cody was invited to the red carpet along with the other stars of the film.

Cody said: “I loved shooting Calibre as it was really fun and I hope I can be in more films in the future.”

Calibre follows Lifelong friends Vaughn Carter (Jack Lowden) and Marcus Trenton (Martin McCann) as they head to an isolated village in the Scottish Highlands for a weekend hunting trip.

Things begin to go downhill for the pair and they are soon caught up in a weekend they could never have imagined.

Cody’s father, Callum Mitchell, said: “Cody loved being on set and loved every minute of filming.

“He has recently completed a short film called “Chicken and the Ed” written and directed by Sam Ettleman which will be out soon as well.”

Cody will be hoping to ride off the success of this, his most recent work, in a bid to land even more roles in his young career.
