Choir on song with award

A CHOIR of joiners, plasterers, builders and friends hit all the right notes and won a prize at the first Chorus Awards run by Scotland Sings.

Good Man and Friends won the Newcomer Award for a choir that has begun in the past year.
Members first got together for Choir for Charity in 2014 and only two of them had ever sung before.
They were delighted to win two second prizes after all their hard work and have gone on to expand their repertoire of pop songs.
The awards showcase the outstanding practice and wonderful stories of choirs right across Scotland.
Scotland Sings coordinator Alison Burns said: “This choir really impressed the judges as they’ve gone from a standing start to a choir rehearsing regularly, learning harmonies and spurring each other on.”
The choir is now gearing up for a performance at this year’s Choir For Charity at the end of October in the Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries under the banner of Friends of Huntington’s Scotland to raise funds for this charity.
