Children invited to explore the coastal woodlands

YOUNG explorers are being invited to discover Dumfries and Galloway’s coastal woodlands through a series of free, fun-filled summer holiday events.

Organised by Dumfries and Galloway Woodlands, the Coastal Woodland Quests programme features imaginative outdoor activities for children aged up to 12, from building bows and arrows and creating natural inks to solving woodland puzzles, tracking red squirrels and making musical instruments.

The events form part of the wider SCAMP Landscape Connections programme, helping young people discover the importance of coastal woodlands and their role in supporting wildlife, biodiversity and climate resilience along the Solway coast.

Taking place at sites across the region throughout July and August, each event includes sessions for younger children (under 8’s) and older children (8-12 years), led by experienced outdoor learning ranger Toni Lamont.

Funded by the Dumfries and Gal- loway Coastal Benefit Fund, the pro- gramme aims to help young people connect with nature, learn new skills and make lasting memories during the Summer holidays.
