Chiefs to headline at festival

THE DOONHAME Festival is scheduled to come back with a bang next year with heavy-hitters Kaiser Chiefs headlining.

The 2020 event was cancelled due to coronavirus restrictions but this week announced they will return to the grounds of The Crichton, Dumfries, on Friday, July 30.

The Kaiser Chiefs, pictured, will be headlining the festival the following day.

Joint festival director Sandy Sweetman said: “We were really excited about the 2020 line-up and the support shown for the festival throughout this challenging year has been exceptional.

“To recognise this support we are determined to make 2021 even better and were blown away when the Kaiser Chiefs agreed to play at our “wee” festival in Dumfries.”

Kaiser Chiefs bassist Simon Rix added: “We are excited to be headlining the Doonhame Festival in Dumfries next year. Playing to our fans in Scotland is always a highlight for us and we look forward to seeing them all in 2021”.

The 2021 line-up also sees the additions of Toploader and the introduction of on-site camping, which will have Covid-19 safety measures in place.

The Feeling, Bad Manners, Hayseed Dixie, Skerryvore, I Am A Raver, Ibiza Mania and over 40 other acts – including local band The Lutras– have also confirmed their availability to perform in 2021.
