Charity cyclists raise £11k

OVER 300 cyclists took part in a 50 mile bank holiday weekend challenge around the region on Saturday.

People travelled from all over the UK for the annual Tearfund Challenge which began and ended at Drumlanrig Castle.
The morning’s route included the steep climb of Dunreggan Brae, between Moniaive and Tynron.
The majority pedalled all the way up, but quite a few resorted to pushing their bikes.

Stuart Lee, of Tearfund’s thanked everyone involved and said: “There’s a great team of volunteers involved from the local churches. It’s a massively successful fund-raiser and helps some of the world’s poorest people.”
This year the event brought in £11,000, bringing the total over 11 years to over £125,000.
