Caravan blaze sparks police probe

A SUSPICIOUS caravan fire in Langholm has prompted a police investigation.

An empty caravan which was sitting on a piece of waste ground in William Street was discovered on fire at about 9 pm on Monday.
Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called to tackle the blaze, with the caravan badly damaged as a result of the fire.
Detective Constable Lee Smith of Police Scotland said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who may have been in the William Street area between 8 pm and 9 pm on Monday night.
“In particular we want to trace a number of youths, perhaps up to four males, who were seen in the area around this time.
“All were described as being dressed in dark clothing and two may have had hooded tops with the hoods up.
“Anyone who can help us trace those responsible should call us at Langholm on the 101 number.”
