CAMELS will be joining the line up at Dumfries Show this year. They’re a new addition to the entertainment programme and will be racing in the main ring at 12 noon and again after the grand parade The show is courtesy of Warwickshire-based Joseph’s Amazing Camels, who have been operating around the UK since 2000. They say: “Camel racing has been a huge sport in the Middle East for centuries. These amazing animals are fit for any occasion! “The camels and the jockeys, specially trained by us, wear fantastically colourful Arabian style outfits. “As well as racing, the camels are on display all day so the public can meet these splendid animals and learn more about them from our friendly staff.” Dumfries Show chairman Willie Purdie is looking forward to something different and said: “We’ve got quite a young entertainment committee and they spotted this somewhere else and they’re quite keen to come. “They’ve had to undergo the Bluetongue vaccination and blood tests to come.”
