Calling all Buchanans
A NEW CHIEF. . . John Michael Baillie-Hamilton Buchanan is the first chief in 300 years

ANY and all Buchanan clansfolk, affiliated families and supporters are being called to reunite for the first clan meeting in over 340 years.

Clan Buchanan is preparing for the inauguration of a new Buchanan clan chief, John Michael Baillie-Hamilton Buchanan. The last clan chief passed away in 1681 without a male heir. Millenia-old clan inauguration rituals will be held during the ceremony in October at the Cambusmore Estate in Perthshire, including a new stone throne carved by specialist Scottish craftsmen.

The chief of clan Buchanan said: “For centuries our ancient clan was left without a Chief or Clan Parliament but this year we’re finally gathering in Scotland. This is a chance to restore Scottish traditions that have been confined to the history books for hundreds of years, bringing them back with a thoroughly modern twist.”

Any members of the clan based in Dumfries and Galloway are invited to go.
