Bumper weddings over festive period

OVER 100 couples are expected to say ‘I do’ over the festive period.

From today until January 4, there are a whopping 127 ceremonies planned across the region.

And 120 of those will take place in the wedding capital of the UK – the Gretna district.

The remaining seven sets of nuptials will be held in Dumfries, Lockerbie, Moffat, Kirkcudbright, Dalbeattie and Gatehouse of Fleet.

The latest restrictions announced by the First Minister on Tuesday will not affect wedding sizes, as they are classed as private events.
