GOLDEN girl Tara Kane was this week crowned British Shooting’s junior national champion.

It was a double whammy for the Eastriggs 11-year-old, who was also part of the winning national team alongside Jack Edgar from Carrutherstown and Iona Yule from Lochmaben. Tara secured the UK’s top scores in the ten metre pistol shoot using two hands.

Her entry was carried out at home due to covid and uploaded to British Shooting by her trainer Kirsty Boardman.

Proud mum Margaret Kane said: “She’s a very determined girl, she never says much to anyone about her sport and just gets on with it. She has done a lot of training, she is non-stop.

“She has bad days in sport but this was definitely one of her good days.

“We must thank the Liddon family and Kirsty for getting her to this standard.

“What else could we ask for?”
