Awards joy for car club chairman

THE chairman of the South of Scotland Car Club picked up a haul of silverware at the BTRDA (British Trial and Rally Drivers Association) annual awards luncheon.

Club chairman Willie Keaning attended Sunday’s event following a very successful 2023, competing a full season within the BTRDA/MSUK Autotest Championship

Silverware picked up by Willie included: The Frank Livingston Memorial Trophy after finishing second overall in the BTRDA Championship; the Dick Squire Trophy – for finishing first in Class C BTRDA Championship; Motorsport UK – second in overall championship.

And he’s being tipped for the overall championship position, with his exciting fast and concise driving style.

Meanwhile, the South of Scotland Car Club was presented with the Father Star Shield recognising the Best Autotest event of 2023.

The club and its team of organisers and marshals are no strangers to this impressive trophy, having been recognised for their hard work and dedication to the sport four times in the last nine years.

The club will present their own annual awards at a special dinner on February 17 at the Woodlands Hotel, Dumfries. Tickets are available now from Liam Patterson.

The night will recognise the achievement of club members in stage rallying, autotesting, targa rallying, as well as the efforts of the teams of marshals and organiser who facilitate the events across the year.

It will also be an opportunity to thank the many landowners, to whom the club are indebted for access to the property.
