Appeal for photographers to capture Annan

A NEW community project has been launched in Annan to examine the changes in the town.

Dumfries and Galloway Council’s Heritage Service is behind the initiative and they want residents to get involved in taking new photos that will document how Annan has developed.

The service already has a collection of black and white images on display in Annan Town Hall and on their social media pages.

And they want to inspire people to recreate those archive pictures today.

Annan Academy pupils have already signed up, and will be taking part alongside other groups locally.

Councillor Ian Blake is backing it and said: “Annan is a busy town with some wonderful buildings. It would be fantastic to get some new images; making an archive for the future.”

The new photographs can be uploaded to the Heritage Service Facebook page @dumfriesandgallowayheritageservice or emailed to [email protected]

A spokesperson said: “We’re looking forward to seeing the new images and the creativity of those taking them. We are excited to put together this exhibition and share it with you.”
