FREE PICTURE: Skiffies World Rowing Championships Launch, Stranraer, Scotland, 19/06/2019: “Skiffie Worlds” World Championships of coastal rowing launch in stunning Loch Ryan (Stranraer, Dumfries & Galloway, South West Scotland). SkiffieWorlds (correct) is the World Championship for the St Ayles Class (correct) of coastal rowing boat, taking place from 7th to 13th July (2019). The St Ayles coastal rowing boat was invented in Scotland 10 years ago and the sport is now one of the fastest growing water sports in the world. The seven day event features more than 700 rowing crews from 57 clubs from around the world, including teams from the United States, Australia, Canada and Tasmania. VIP Visitors to the world championship event will include The Princess Royal, who will attend the event on 8th July. The event on the shores of Loch Ryan features a huge festival of local artisan food, screenings of Scottish films, heritage experiences and ceilidh dances.
