A75 weekend closure
THE A75 north of Annan will be closed all this weekend for essential maintenance. It shuts at 8 pm tonight, Friday, until 6 am on Monday. After that there will be overnight closures from Monday to Thursday, finishing at 6 am next Friday, May 15. Outwith these times, temporary traffic lights will be in operation during the day. It’s to allow Amey, on behalf of Transport Scotland, carry out resurfacing, footway maintenance and signage upgrades at Stapleton Road. A diversion will be in place for locals whereby westbound traffic shall be taken off on to the B6357 Stapleton Road, travelling south on Stapleton Road, turning right on to Scott’s Street and continuing along route to re-join the A75. A75 eastbound traffic will follow the same route as above in reverse.
Meanwhile, the trunk road diversion will take vehicles via the Brownrigg Roundabout at Dumfries to join the A709. Traffic will continue along the A709 through Lochmaben to Lockerbie, then the B7076 southbound to Gretna Green to rejoin the A75 on-slip there. Access for emergency service vehicles will be maintained throughout. The scheme is weather dependent and may be cancelled or rescheduled if weather conditions are not favourable. Amey said: “Road users are thanked for their patience and understanding while this work is being undertaken.”
