Lights out for Dumfries after sub-station crash

PARTS of Dumfries were blacked out for some time yesterday afternoon after a car is believed to have hit a electricity sub-station.

Firefighters, police and engineers were called to the Lovers Walk are of the town around 2pm when the incident took place.
The accident resulted in a power cut in the area which affected the traffic lights are the junction of Lovers Walk/Academy Street and Academy Street/Loreburn Street.
Police advised motorists and members of the public to avoid the area for a time as work went on to carry out repairs.
About 100 homes were affected by the power cut but power was restored to the area after about an hour.
