A CHARITY hit by covid will be in the region next week carrying out fundraising.

Volunteers from Erskine, which provides care for veterans, will be going door to door in Dumfries and Galloway over the next four weeks in an effort to raise vital funds.

Around £10 million is required each year for them to continue their care of ex-service personnel across four care homes and their veterans’ village.

With Covid-19 restrictions tightening, Erskine has ensured the public that the health and safety of supporters and fundraisers is the “top priority” whilst they make fundraising efforts.

A spokesman said: “We will never ask for a donation by cash, cheque or debit/credit card at the door. The method of donation is by Direct Debit, which we consider to be a safe and convenient method of giving for both parties involved.”
