Lotto boost

SIGHT loss charity the Macular Society has been awarded Lottery funds to support its peer support services, including in Dumfries.

They have secured £97,143 over the next three years for their work helping people living with the most common cause of sight loss - macular disease.

Members of the Dumfries group are delighted at the boost.

One of those is Morag, who said: “Since I joined, being with the support group has given me more confidence. The good thing is we all seem to have kept our sense of humour, which I think in dark situations you need to have."
