GREYHOUNDS: Jazz hits a Gretna sprint high note

VETERAN Gretna trainer Rab Hyslop hit a high note with his three-year-old dog Jazz at Halcrow Greyhound Stadium on Friday night.

He led from the traps in the 8.15 sprint trip to secure victory at 3/1 by 1.25 lengths.

The Hawick-based flyer was followed home by challenger Long Tom, a four-year-old dog from north Cumbrian brothers Tom and Harry Martindale.

There was a cross-border tussle in the 8.45 sprint race with Tom Clark’s Workington two-year-old dog, One Cool Cat, taking the honours from fellow 5/2 shot Malonga, a similar aged entry from Bobby Lyndsay of Dumfries.

Finally, the clever money was on Wishaw-based Brendan when he turned in a good middle distance time to win the final race of the evening.
