Dumfries by-pass delays after lorry crash

THERE were long delays on the A75 Dumfries by-pass on Friday morning after a lorry overturned.

The driver of the Northern Ireland – based articulated HGV, which was carrying a consignment of pig carcasses, was shaken but not seriously injured.

Police Scotland state the accident, near Lincluden roundabout, happened around 5.20 am and warned of lengthy delays while a major recovery operation was carried out.

The road re-opened to two-way traffic around lunchtime.
