Mids put up a great fight and even when they were down to ten men in the second half they came back to score a late goal. But Saints edged it 4-3 at Galabank to add the South League championship trophy to the Cree Lodge Cup they won last week.
Mids went ahead in the 5th minute with an Andy White goal but Roman Soltys levelled before the interval.
Despite having to play for around half an hour with ten men after Josh Davidson was red-carded, Mids made a fight of it.
Paul Gray put Saints into the lead in the 62nd minute but a minute later Mids Luke Hammond fired home to make it 2-2.
Steven Degnan got number three for Saints in the 70th minute and disaster struck Mids in the 76th minute when Barry Morton headed into his own net to put Saints 4-2 up.
Then in the 90th minute Luke Hammond got his second goal to make it 4-3 at the final whistle.
Meanwhile, Upper Annandale failed in their bid to win their first trophy in Southern Counties football last night when they went down 4-0 to Edusport Academy.
On Monday night Edusport- made up mainly of young French football players- were two up at the interval in the final of the Tweedie Cup and added two more in the second half to clinch their second trophy of the season.
It’s Edu’s second trophy of the season after winning the South of Scotland League Cup two weeks and they’ve already finished runner-up in the South of Scotland League.
The South season concludes tomorrow Saturday when the final of the Potts Cup is played at Palmerston Park between Creetown and Lochar Thistle. The match kicks off at 3pm.
