Candidates set to go head-to-head

CANDIDATES contesting the Dumfriesshire constituency in the Scottish Parliament elections have agreed to go head-to-head in a public debate.

Local people will have the opportunity to put their questions to a panel comprising Liberal Democrat Richard Brodie, Joan McAlpine of the SNP, Conservative Oliver Mundell and Labour’s Dr Elaine Murray.

The debate, being organised by BBC Scotland, will be staged in The Duncan Rooms at the Easterbrook Hall, Dumfries at 7 pm on Tuesday April 26 and will be chaired by veteran broadcaster and journalist Willie Johnston, a native of Annan.

Details of how to obtain free tickets to the debate, together with a short questionnaire for potential audience members, are online at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-south-scotland-35987608

The debate will be recorded for broadcast on BBC Radio Scotland in the south west.

Voters across Scotland go to the polls on Thursday May 5.
