Hunt for £11k caravan thieves

POLICE are hunting thieves who stole an £11k caravan from a house in Upper Nithsdale.

The Swift Ireland Lewis – manufactured four-berth caravan was taken from the driveway of the property in Duke Street, Kirkconnel sometime overnight Wednesday July 15 and Thursday July 16.

The caravan is white with a grey flash down both sides and has a double axle.

Constable Neil Murray of Sanquhar police said: “This was a brazen theft of a high value caravan from the victim’s home and those responsible had a number of security factors to overcome.

“It appears that this may have been a targeted theft as opposed to an opportunistic one.

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have seen anything suspicious.”

The investigating officer added that there had been reports of a burgundy long wheelbase 4 x 4 vehicle seen in suspicious circumstances in the Ladeside area of Kirkconnel in the early hours of Thursday.

Anyone with information which might be of assistance is asked to call Police Scotland on 101.
