The vandalism at the Dumfries constituency office of Joan McAlpine, pictured, happened at 3 am.
And a man wearing jeans and a dark jacket with the hood up was caught on CCTV breaking the High Street shop front window.
He was then seen to run down towards Dock Head.
Anyone with any information which might help identify this person is asked to call officers at Dumfries on the 101 number.
