£1 million road scheme enters final phase

RESURFACING works along the A75 near Mossyard are enters its final phase on Tuesday. The work carried out by Amey on behalf of Transport Scotland has been on-going since 2024 as part of a wider investment of around £1 million to improve infrastructure on the trunk road. Work will be carried out overnight to minimise disruption, with full road closures in place between 8 pm and 6 am, and daytime Temporary Traffic Lights (TTLs) operating while the road is cooling. The daytime TTLs will also ensure the safety of road users passing through the extents of the scheme. The programme of overnight works will operate on the following dates:
- Tuesday April 22 – Thursday May 1 between the hours of 8 pm and 6 am each night.
- Friday May 2 and Saturday May 3 between 10 pm and 6 am each night.
- Monday May 5 – Wednesday May 7 between 8 pm and 6 am each night.
- Southbound traffic will leave the A75 at Castle Douglas, take the A713 north to Ayr and the first exit at Bankfield Roundabout on to the southbound A77. They will then continue to Girvan to take the second exit at Shallochpark Roundabout on to the A714 and re-join the A75 at Newton Stewart.
- Northbound traffic will follow the route in reverse.
