Wind farm plan for Moor
A WIND farm plan for Langholm Moor, on land where wild goats are being culled, has been unveiled.
Low Carbon UK has submitted a request for a scoping opinion to Scottish Borders Council for the Hartsgarth Wind Farm proposal on the eastern edge of the Langholm Moor.
The 18 turbine farm, featuring turbines with a max blade tip height of 220m and a battery energy storage system, would be located to the north of Newcastleton.
Studies into landscape, environmental and wildlife impacts will be carried out before a full application is submitted.
Earlier this year campaigners called on the Scottish Government to help ensure the survival of the goats by granting them protected status.
The Wild Goat Conservation Trust’s petition has more than 13,200 signatures. It can be viewed here: petitions.parliament.scot/petitions/PE2151
