Trophy time for town band

ANNAN Town Band added more silverware to their trophy cabinet last weekend after another strong competition performance.

The band were in Kirkcaldy on Saturday for the Fife Charities Band Association contest at the Adam Smith Theatre.

Under the baton of musical director Lewis Wilkinson, Annan picked up the prize for best second section band, with adjudicator Stephanie Binns providing particular praise to the band’s soloists.

And in the open contest they outperformed their ranking to finish in ninth overall, placing above one band from the championship section and two first section bands.

The result is also a sign of the band’s consistency, as they have now brought home the prize for best second section band from three of their last four competitions.
