STRANRAER Reserves completed a rare treble success to round off the season.
After beating Dalbeattie Star twice inside a week to lift the Cree Lodge Cup and the Potts Cup, the pair faced off for a final time.
For the third instalment – this time in the Tweedie Cup final – it was another close contest at Stranraer Academy.
Star opened the scoring thanks to a Billy Gray header, before Ryan Edgar levelled from the spot on 70 minutes.
But Dalbeattie pulled ahead again through Reece Paterson. And with little time left on the clock and just when the Blues thought it was all over, a corner was given. Adam Wilde netted with the game heading to a penalty shootout.
And the team were spot on with Connor Phillips, Wilde, Edgar, Zac McCutcheon and Leon Paton all scoring their spot-kicks. Star missed their first pen which cracked the crossbar.
Cue the well-deserved celebrations for a team who have had a fantastic season. They came so close to winning the South of Scotland League, only two points behind champions Dalbeattie Star.
