Town’s banking hub is progressing well
ANNAN’S newly planned permanent banking hub is on track to open in January 2026, Cash Access UK confirmed this week. It comes after Annan Community Council chairman Allan Weild had a meeting with a representative from the not-for-profit, which is funded by major high street banks, looking for a temporary premises on the High Street. However, this is understood to be a contingency measure as plans, lodged by Cash Access to transform 68 High Street, formerly Dunnabie Farm Shop, into a facility where people can access cash and face-to-face banking services, are progressing well after being granted conditionally. Once opened, the new banking hub will be operational Monday to Friday from 9 am to 5 pm. There will be a counter operated by the Post Office where cash services can be accessed during these times. And community bankers, representing different banks, will be available to deal with more complex issues on certain days. Details of what banks will be supporting the hub will be announced nearer to the time of opening. A spokeswoman from Cash Access UK said: “Our team are working hard to progress plans for the hub in Annan. “Residents can find updates on the progress of our work on the Cash Access UK website, and we look forward to sharing some positive news on our progress soon.” A hub is coming to Annan as a result of the scheduled closure of the town’s Bank of Scotland branch on March 2, 2026.
