Town bus update

AN UPDATE has been provided amid concerns over the discontinuation of the Annan town bus. SWestrans have released a statement, saying: "We're aware of local concern about the Stagecoach commercially operated 80 Annan Town route being withdrawn from 5 January. "Please note that SWestrans is actively working to maintain this community service. Discussions are at an advanced stage with Annandale Community Transport Services on a potential replacement service." Assurances have also been given that schoolchildren currently travelling on the 579 from Gretna to Annan will be reallocated to alternative transport services and their parents will be contacted in due course. Swestrans added: "We’ll share more information as soon as everything is agreed. Thank you for your patience while we work to keep the community connected."
