THE Great Britain XVIII Steam Tour made its way through Annandale on Tuesday morning. Our pictures show Locomotive 45407 ‘The Lancashire Fusilier’ at Annan Train Station at around 9 am. The locomotive was built in 1937 by the Armstrong Whitworth Company in Newcastle for the LMS Railway. On Tuesday the train was travelling from Carlisle to Fort William on the fourth day of its epic journey around the country. The week long tour, described by The Railway Touring Company as ‘an unforgettable railway adventure through the heart of a remarkable nation’, finishes on Saturday.
