Studio plan for church

PLANS have been lodged to turn Dornock Church into an art studio.

Visual artist and painter Hope London and photographer Alan Hillyer have applied for permission to make small internal alterations, removing some of the pews and forming internal partitions in the building.

A supporting statement said: “My clients wish to make minimal changes to the historic fabric of the church and preserve its character.

“By creating their studio they will look after the historic fabric and ensure it has a use for the future.”

The B listed building was sold by The Church of Scotland at the start of the year.

Dornock Church did not reopen after covid due to falling congregation numbers and the need for repairs.

However the other place of worship in the Dornock Parish, the Baxter Hall, Eastriggs, continues to hold services. In September 2023 Annan Old Parish Church and Dornock Parish Church were united into one parish which is now Annan Old and Dornock Parish Church.
