LANGHOLM has chosen its 2017 Cornet with 1040 people turning out to vote.

And it is Stuart Murray who scooped the title, with a 324 majority over his only rival, Iain Little.

The 22-year-old, who is a shop assistant at Latimers and lives at Townfoot. He will preside over this summer’s celebrations with his right and left-hand men, Simon Tweddle and Jamie Fletcher.
Stuart is delighted to have been elected Cornet on what is a special year for the family as his grandfather, Ian Murray, was Cornet 60 years ago.
