THE leadership and staff team of an Annan nursery have been hailed by inspectors. It comes after the Care Inspectorate’s unannounced inspection at Sparklers Private Nurseries last month found that the warm, caring, respectful and professional staff team responded positively to children and encouraged them to have fun. Other key messages from the report included: Happy, confident children who had formed secure attachments with staff; Parents welcomed from the start and involved in the setting and their child’s care; Strong focus on local and wider community learning through daily walks, visits and community activities; Furnishings and room layout create a warm and calm environment; Children are taught to think about safety and management and staff were positively engaged and committed to continuous improvement. Sparklers – based at Greencroft Wynd – received two very good grades for its leadership and staff. This is the second highest possible mark to receive. Inspectors also gave Sparklers’ setting and their care, play and learning a good grade. Reacting to the inspection, Sparklers owner Ros White yesterday said: “I am so proud of what the team have achieved, the Care Inspectorate clearly evidenced strong learning through play at nursery. “The statement made about our people - ‘there is a strong sense of team amongst the staff, and they feel supported and valued by management’ - is great to hear as the success of our inspection is down to our team. “How we nurture and care for the children whilst providing a stimulating and curious learning environment for them to explore and learn is mentioned throughout and how we place our families and children at the heart of all we do, we value the relationships we have built. “We have improved year-on-year and to see that the Care Inspectorate agree has made all the hard work we have put in so worth it.”
