Sharks face race for 8th place!
WITH just four points separating the Solway Sharks from the eighth placed Raiders, the Dumfries team are asking their fans to turn out in large numbers. There’s still 12 points up for grabs and the side want to sell out the Shark Tank on Saturday night (7 pm face-off) against the Telford Tigers. But before that contest, they travel down to face Basingstoke Bisons on Friday night with a 7.30 pm face off. Sharks need to get points on the board quickly after suffering two defeats last weekend. They lost 4-2 to Hull Seahawks on home ice, with Jonny Tantsis and Jordan Buesa netting for the Sharks. But the Sharks did earn a point on the road after an inspired comeback against the Bristol Pitbulls They found themselves 4-1 down after the first period, with Leon Okonkwo Prada scoring his first NIH National League goal. Kyle Carruth and Duncan Speirs netted for the visitors in the second period to make it 6-3. The Sharks staged a late comeback with Speirs, Okonkwo Prada and Dylan Stewart goals. However, the Sharks couldn’t earn the extra point as the Pitbulls netted in overtime.
