Region recognised in Bafta awards
A DRAMA series based on the Lockerbie disaster and an actress born in Annan are both finalists in this year’s Bafta Scotland Awards.
Lockerbie: A Search For Truth has received three nominations in the categories of best writer for David Harrower; best television scripted drama; and best actress film/tv for Catherine McCormack, above, who played grieving mother Jane Swire alongside Colin Firth as campaigner Jim Swire.
Meanwhile, actress Ashley Jensen, who grew up in Annan, is on the shortlist for the Audience Award for favourite Scot on screen.
It’s for her role in Shetland and she’s up against five others, including Richard Rankin in Rebus, Dr Who Ncuti Gatwa and Gladiator Sheli McCoy.
Voting is open to members of the public and will close on October 30.
All the Bafta 2025 winners will be announced at a glitzy ceremony hosted by Edith Bowman in Glasgow on November 16, with a highlights programme on BBC Scotland on November 19.
Dani Carlaw, chairwoman of Bafta Scotland, said: “Congratulations to this year’s Bafta Scotland nominees.
“This remarkable line-up is a true celebration of Scotland’s world-class creative talent, showcasing bold storytelling, extraordinary craft, and powerful voices shaping our screen culture today.
“I cannot wait to honour the outstanding achievements of those in front of and behind the camera.”
