HOTELS across Dumfriesshire have been named as finalists for numerous awards at the Prestige Hotel Awards Scotland.

The hotly contested honours recognise hotels for everything from value, service, staff, and renovations, to bars, restaurants and just being the best of the best.

The awards also take into account the standard offered by hotels, separating them into star ratings as well as city categories and so on.

Among those locally on the shortlist are Mabie House Hotel in the best three-star hotel, best country hotel and best historic/heritage hotel categories.

Meanwhile the Cairndale Hotel at Dumfries has been named in four categories, including best three-star hotel, best afternoon tea, best general manager and best spa hotel.

Langholm’s Eskdale Hotel was named in the best afternoon tea and best hotel restaurant sections, whilst Gretna Hall Hotel was shortlisted in the best historic/heritage hotel and best wedding hotel sections.

Awards director Warren Paul said: “The finalists for our awards have made it this far because of guests nominating and voting for them for honours they believe are deserved, based on their experiences.

“The range of hotels featured on our list across Scotland in cities, towns, villages and in the middle of nowhere, the different budgets and options we take into account, means this is genuinely an up-to-date guide for the best hotels in the country now.”

The awards will be presented to the overall winners and highly recommended runners-up at a ceremony in Glasgow on Sunday May 14.
