ACCESSING prescriptions is about to get easier for patients north of Moffat with a new dispensing robot set to offer 24/7 medication collection. The CCTV monitored machine will be installed in the car park of Leadhills Surgery, allowing patients to collect their prescriptions at a time that suits them, day or night. It will be available to all dispensing patients registered at Moffat Medical Practice. The service is expected to be available in the next few months. A spokesman for the practice said: “We’re aware that it’s not always convenient for people to pick up a prescription, especially if work gets in the way. “We have taken this feedback on board and looked at innovative solutions. “This new additional service at Leadhills Surgery means that people can get hold of their prescription at a day and time that suits them. “There are several pharmacies in the area with these machines, but Leadhills Surgery will be the first surgery locally to have this resource. “Patients that use the service will receive a unique personalised PIN code via SMS text message each time their order is ready, which they use to access their medication. “It is expected that the machine will be installed in the coming months. “The team will provide more detailed information over the coming weeks.”
