New podcast aims to break drugs stigma
Published: 6th June 2026|Location: Regionwide
A PODCAST aimed at encouraging honest, accessible conversations about drugs, alcohol and recovery has been launched.
Breaking the Stigma is being produced by Dumfries and Galloway Alcohol and Drug Partnership (ADP), and helps highlight the support available across the region.
Created for anyone affected by substance use, whether personally, through supporting someone else, or working within services, it aims to make vital information clearer and easier to understand.
The series will explore the role of the ADP and partner services across Dumfries and Galloway; talk openly about harm reduction and practical ways to stay safe; highlight women’s health and gender‑specific support; and share real conversations about recovery, family support, and lived experience. Independent chair of the ADP Penny Halliday said: “Breaking stigma starts with honest conversations.
“Too often, people affected by alcohol or drugs feel isolated or judged, and that prevents them from reaching out for support.”
“This podcast is about changing that culture, by sharing real stories, clear information, and the message that help is available.”
“If even one person feels more able to ask for support because of this series, then it will have made a meaningful difference.”
* The podcast can be found on platforms such as Spotify or Apple Podcasts.
