Neil takes on the top role

ANNAN Community Council has a new chairman.

Neil Carruthers has assumed the role following Monday night’s AGM and regular meeting where all positions were up for grabs.

Neil, who has been a member of the group since 2019, said: “It’s an honour and privilege to become chairman of Royal Burgh of Annan Community Council.

“I would like to say a big thank you to Allan Weild for all of his hard work as chairman over the years and for taking over as vice chair, keeping continuity in our friendly and hard working team.”

Departing chair Allan said: “I was chairman for about six years. Every year all office positions are vacant, and I always said if someone wanted to do it they could.

“I have thoroughly enjoyed my time as chair, and I wish Neil all the best in the role.”

Annan Community Council’s next meeting will take place on Monday May 11 at Newington Social Club, Standalane, at 7 pm.
