A POEM written by her mother inspired the latest single from Moffat songstress Phamie Gow. At the weekend she announced the release of On the Black Hill. And she told fans: “This originally was a poem written by Alison Cameron (my mother) which I set to music and was featured in Lammermuir, my second album. “It somehow felt the right time to release it to the world as a single with me singing accompanied by the harp.” The words are: Mossy stone for my pillow To rest my dream filled head Soft green turf mattress, a tinkers perfect bed Star studded sky, my ceiling While the black velvet night Caresses my feelings Of all the beauty around, Of all the silence and loneliness, On the black hill. You can hear the song on most digital platforms.
