Lockerbie Fire Station’s watch commander, John Irving, has been presented with a certificate to mark 40 years of service.

He joined in May 1985, aged just 19, and has progressed through the ranks to watch commander.

And John was also part of the initial response to the Lockerbie air disaster in 1988, an experience that reflects the depth of his service and contribution.

An SFRS spokesperson said: “John has since shown unwavering dedication to both his crew and the local community, leading Lockerbie Fire Station with pride, professionalism, and commitment.

“This remarkable milestone is a testament to a lifetime of commitment and public service. Thank you, John, for everything you have given and continue to give to the service.”
