Milestone moment

THE main funders of the proposed Star of Caledonia have welcomed the lodging of a planning application.

CWP Energy are delighted that the official proposal for the 33 metre LED-lit spiral sculpture and visitor hub is now with Dumfries and Galloway Council.

Managing director Rob Wood said: "The Star will stand for generations. It is a unique, special project that embodies Scotland’s history of innovation and commitment to engineering and green energy."

CWP have pledged £6 million towards the construction and they, along with the Star of Caledonia Trust and other partners, hope it will be open to the public for spring 2027
