YOUNGSTER Munro Cubbon hit a maiden first team 50 for Vigilant Dumfries against champions Clydesdale with a player of the match performance before rain halted play on Saturday. The final Dumfries fixture in Western Premiership One fell victim to the weather midway during the first innings. Vigilant Dumfries were put in to bat at league champions Clydesdale in an effort to force an early result before the forecast rain brought an end to proceedings. When the umpires called the game, with Dumfries on 94 for four wickets, 16-year-old Munro was the top scorer with an innings of 57 not out. That individual success leavened the side’s final league position in a relegation spot having been promoted up to the Premiership last season.
