A WOMAN was sexually assaulted in the middle of Lockerbie on Saturday evening.

It happened at about 7.10 pm as she was walking on Dumfries Road.

The 30-year-old had just passed the junction with St Bryde's Terrace when she was approached by a man and sexually assaulted.

The man, who made off in the direction of Main Street, is described as being white, about five foot five tall, of medium build, and was wearing a dark jumper, blue jeans and a baseball cap.

Enquiries are ongoing and police have appealed for information.

PC Broomfield said: “This was a distressing incident which left the victim understandably shaken.

“I am appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident to contact us.

“I would also appeal to anyone who was in the area and may have dash cam or private CCTV footage which could assist to get in touch.”

Anyone with any information is asked to contact 101 quoting reference 2972 of 27 June, 2026.
