Lights committee launch fundraiser
ANNAN Christmas Lights Committee have appealed for support from individuals and businesses to ensure the town shines brightly during this festive period.
Replacements and extra lights are set to cost the group more than £9000.
In order to cover costs, the committee now have charitable status and have changed their funding platform to Crowdfunder. This enables them to keep more of the donations and also receive Gift Aid.
Posting on social media, the committee said: “After reviewing the condition of the lights, we’ve identified several that need replacing. “The east entrance into Annan is also not as sparkly as the rest of the town and we have decided to focus on that area this year.
“The total cost for replacements and the extra lights totals just over £9000.
“A grant from Dumfries and Galloway Council helps cover installation costs, but it does not fund the purchase or upkeep of the lights themselves – that’s entirely down to our fundraising efforts and the generous support from residents and businesses.
“We have set ourselves a goal to raise £2000 which will help towards these costs.
“We kindly ask for your support – whether as an individual or a business – to help us reach this goal. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference.
“Together, we can ensure Annan continues to shine brightly this Christmas and beyond.”
