Jail for banned motorist

In court on Monday, Jason Gilmour, 35, of Balmoral Avenue, Dumfries, admitted taking and driving away a car from Nithsdale Mills in the town at the weekend, driving in Brooms Road while banned and using a car without insurance. Solicitor Roger Colledge said Gilmour had foolishly taken a friend's car when asked by the friend's mother to get some groceries for her. Sheriff George Jamieson imposed the jail sentence and another ban of two years.
