Investigation following ship-breaking theft

ENQUIRIES are ongoing to trace suspects who entered a boat in Annan Harbour and removed items from inside.

The incident, amongst others, was contained in PC Stephen Glendinning’s monthly police report submitted to Annan Community Council ahead of their meeting on Monday.

Between August 10 and August 29, 14 vandalism offences were reported across the town. Enquiries are ongoing and suspects have been identified for a number of these offences.

A number of youths have been charged and reported to the procurator fiscal/children’s reporter in respect of some of the vandalism’s.

On August 15 four youths removed a Ring Doorbell from a property on Windermere Avenue. PC Glendinning said enquiries are ongoing.

Two of the suspects involved in entering a boat docked at the harbour and taking items from within on August 19 have been identified and enquiries are ongoing to trace them.

Investigations continue after a motorbike was stolen from Fernlea Crescent on August 25.

The vehicle was located a short distance away, having sustained extensive damage.

On the same date, attempts were made to steal a scooter parked on Port Street. A padlock on the front wheel proved to be the potential thief’s undoing. Enquiries are ongoing.

Police are also looking into a theft from a shed on Kennels Road. A large quantity of alcohol was stolen from the location between August 11 and August 25.
