A REPAIR cafe is set to open in Annan at the end of the month. Broken household items can be brought to Kate’s Kitchen on Wednesday November 26 between 10 am and 1 pm. at repair cafe There will be volunteers in attendance to help make repairs to items and give advice. And the project, which is a collaboration between the Annan charity and Dumfries and Galloway Climate Hub, will continue to run on the third Wednesday of the month going into the new year. Explaining the project, Annandale and Eskdale climate hub engagement officer Emma Jayne Park said: “On November 26 there will be a repair cafe kicking off at Kate’s Kitchen. It’s going to run monthly, and the idea is you can turn up with something that needs fixed (someone will help you fix it or show you how to). “We are going to have someone who can sew, someone who can fix bikes and hopefully someone who can do some woodwork. “Kate’s Kitchen are going to run it for a year (to start with). There’s already one at Kirkcudbright and Moniaive, and hopefully some of those folk are going to come here and have a chat with people.” Kate’s Kitchen manager Helen McAnespie added: “The Old Bank Community Cafe at Kate’s Kitchen is delighted to be hosting the new Climate Repair Cafe in Annan. People will be able to come along and have their items fixed, this could be clothes that need to be stitched or have a new zip attached etc. We also hope to be able to fix people’s push bikes as well. “If anyone is interested in volunteering to help fixing things then please do get in touch.
