Heath’s bid to reinvent the UK wedding industry
A GRETNA entrepreneur is looking ahead to the future of weddings with his new venture.
And Heath Hampson still believes that churches will have a key role to play if they can embrace evolving digital opportunities.
As such, he has launched a new platform, ChurchWed.com, to fuse the spirituality of church weddings with advanced technology such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and Web3 tech.
He explained: “The platform is as radical as it is simple. Couples can search for church venues and trusted local suppliers using AI-driven recommendations, stripping away the confusion that often accompanies wedding planning.
“At the same time, photographers, florists, car hire companies and venues can secure a place on the platform for a one-off payment. But here’s the twist: each business receives a blockchain-backed digital token, giving them shared ownership in the platform itself.”
He sees it as the natural evolution of the industry, adding: “Back in 1998, I encouraged wedding professionals to get websites - see below. Today, I’m encouraging them to embrace AI, blockchain, and shared digital platforms. It’s not just the future—it’s already happening.”
Heath describes it as ‘a gamble worth taking’ and insists it will help save churches nationwide from extinction. With nearly four decades of experience in the wedding sector, ranging from starting out as a DJ in Gretna Green to being the founder of the Anvil Hall venue, he believes churches are more than bricks and mortar, describing them as ‘vessels of culture and meaning’, which he is keen to try and preserve.
“With the help of AI and blockchain, they may yet find new life at the heart of the wedding story,” he added.
“ChurchWed.com isn’t just a wedding planning platform—it’s a movement. Its mission is to re-centre community, restore meaning, and help a new generation of couples stand at the altar with both tradition and technology by their side.”
