FRIDAY past saw the Dumfries Harriers celebrate their annual club awards night at Dumfries Sports Club. Club chairman, and host for the evening, Keith Ainslie said: “This is always a big night on the club calendar as we celebrate our members’ successes and achievements over the last year. “This year past we’ve have some outstanding performances, both at home and abroad and across all distances.” Club captain Gordon Stewart took home two of the big awards on the night, scooping both male club champion and performance of the year with his very impressive debut Barcelona Marathon. On the ladies side, it was the same double for Kathryn Reid, with female club champion and performance of the year for her gruelling Hadrian’s Wall Ultra. In the club Grand Prix, made up of numerous races throughout the year, it was Donna Davidson and Alex Dingwall who lifted the top honours on the night.

Meanwhile, Christine Proudfoot and Alistair Barclay were the age graded club champions. The Club Standard awards, which are based on the UK nationally recognised standards, are particularly hard to achieve and a number of bronze and silver awards were handed out on the night. However, the stand out was Olga McCready who achieved the club’s only second ever Gold Standard Award and the first ever for a female club member.
